Addiction Therapy in West Hollywood — Adult Care with 12-Step & Alternative Options

I help adults change their relationship to substances and compulsive behaviors, especially when addiction intersects with trauma, anxiety, or mood disorders. Care is integrative, skills-based, LGBTQ+ affirming, and collaborative—available via telehealth across California and Nevada, with walk-and-talk sessions in Beverly Hills and West Hollywood. Recovery paths can include 12-step and alternative options; we’ll choose what fits your goals and values.

Addiction therapy for adults in West Hollywood — Alina Halonen LPCC

This page is for adults navigating patterns with alcohol, cannabis, stimulants, prescription misuse, or behaviors like gambling or porn that are starting to run the show. If trauma, anxiety, or mood disorders are part of the picture, we’ll treat both the drivers and the habits so gains stick.

Who this page is for

Practicing craving management and coping skills between sessions

We begin with a clear picture of what’s happening now and what you want to change first. Treatment blends MICBT and ACT for urges and triggers, DBT-informed skills for emotion and impulse regulation, and motivational work to strengthen commitment. When trauma is relevant, we pace it carefully and integrate CPT or TF-CBT so you’re not white-knuckling change. Recovery supports can include 12-step meetings/sponsorship or non-12-step options; we plan around your values, community, and access.

How addiction therapy works here

Planning harm-reduction or abstinence goals for recovery

Some clients aim for abstinence; others start with harm-reduction goals (fewer days, smaller amounts, safer contexts). We’ll define success in concrete terms and track what changes between sessions—sleep, cravings, conflicts, energy, and self-trust—so you can see progress.

Relaxed Businessman

Sessions are structured yet human. We set priorities, practice tools you can use between meetings, and adjust quickly when life throws curveballs. I explain why we’re using each method and invite your feedback throughout.

Insurance benefits verified before first session

I’m in-network with Aetna and Optum/UnitedHealthcare (including Oxford). We verify benefits before your first session and tell you your estimated copay/coinsurance and any deductible impact. If your plan isn’t listed, I can provide an itemized receipt (superbill) for out-of-network benefits. I also offer a free 10-minute chemistry call so you can ask questions and see if we’re a fit. I work with adults (18+) only.
